Polynomial interpolation is the most well-known of the one-dimensional interpolation methods. Its advantages are the ease of implementation and the good quality of the obtained interpolants. However, it is not without flaws, and recently it has been under strong pressure from alternative interpolation methods: splines and rational functions. But despite this, polynomial interpolation is still one of the main tools for numerical analysis.
