Two balls with masses m1 = 500 g and m2 = 300 g are connected to each other by an inextensible thread and mounted on a horizontal rod so that they can move along the rod. The smaller ball is connected to the axis of rotation of the stretched spring (Fig. ), which in the free state has a length l0 = 10 cm and a stiffness k = 5 N/m. The rod with balls rotates with a frequency n = 45 rpm. Find the extension of the spring. At what distance from the axis of rotation must the center of the larger ball be so that during rotation the balls are kept at a constant distance from the axis of rotation? Will the uniform rotational motion of a thread with balls be stable? Neglect the mass of the rod and thread, as well as the friction between the surfaces of the rod and the balls.
