The end of a vertical glass tube of small diameter is lowered into water, the water completely wets the glass, assuming that the internal radius of the capillary r0, the density of water p, and the coefficient of surface tension a are known, determine the amount of heat that will be released or absorbed as a result of the development of capillary phenomena. The meniscus is below the upper cut of the tube. Assume that the distance by which the meniscus will shift during the development of capillary phenomena is much greater than the radius of the capillary.
