The charges on the plates of two capacitors of capacity C₁ and C₂ are equal to q₁ and q₂. Show that, except in special cases, the stored electrostatic energy of capacitors will decrease if they are connected in parallel. Where does the energy go with this? Find the condition under which the connection of capacitors does not lead to energy loss.
