The surface tension of a liquid wetting glass is measured by determining the height between the levels of two menisci in a U-shaped capillary tube; the diameters of the capillaries of the tube elbows are 1 and 10 mm. Calculate the surface tension of a liquid with a density of 0.998 g/cm3, knowing that the difference between the two levels of the meniscus in the capillaries is 9 mm.
